Our first Open Production explores a topic relevant to anyone who drives a car or lives on the planet Earth: can we transition to a new breed of vehicles that relies less on oil and produces fewer greenhouse gases? The documentary will be shot and edited over the winter and spring of 2006-2007 and is tentatively scheduled to air in the fall of 2007.

Some people suggested ideas for the documentary; others posed questions for us to ask of the experts being interviewed. All the input was greatly appreciated, and it is informing how we produce not just the broadcast program but also the companion Web site, teacher's guides, and other materials. Below is a sampling of the questions submitted, as well as excerpts from our expert interviews that address these questions.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/pbs/wgbh/nova/car-feed/~4/1GRhnmBoj8s" height="1" width="1"/>

There also have been a few, well, rather imaginative suggestions. Tom and Ray, naturally, couldn't help having a little fun with them.
